Who are we?

We are a couple who have been foster parents for many years. We've lived through the assessment process, the training, the placements, the hard nights and the life-changing moments. When we started, official information was scattered across dozens of government websites written in administrative jargon — and it still is.

FoundFamily exists to change that: take official information, verify it, and translate it into plain language, province by province.

Our method

  • Official sources only. Every fact comes from a government page, a published collective agreement, or a mandated body. No hearsay, no forums.
  • Every fact links to its source, with a visible verification date.
  • When the government doesn't publish an amount, we say so — we never invent a figure.
  • Quarterly re-verification of amounts, processes, and contacts for all 13 provinces and territories.
  • No chatbot. Our lookup tool only shows you human-written, verified content — never generated text about rules affecting children.

What we are not

  • We are not a government body and we don't place children.
  • We don't give legal advice.
  • Our pages don't replace your area's body — always confirm with them before making a decision.
